Sharing an imaging archive is generally a good thing, but should you implement one archive and connect multiple PACS and other imaging IT systems to it, or should you build an Enterprise PACS and consolidate your various PACS into it? We will get the perspective of vendor staff that are faced with these types of questions from their customers.

  1. Discuss the pros and cons of the approach of consolidation of image archives in an Enterprise PACS vs. a Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA).
  2. Identify what attributes and capabilities are needed for an image archive to be considered "vendor neutral".
  3. Determine how to manage a shared image archive across diagnostic and clinical domains, and facility organizations.
